5 Habits to Keep Your Kitchen Clean

You can do a lot of activities in the kitchen when you're at home; cooking, baking cakes, making coffee, eating breakfast to dinner, and more. Making food usually takes quite a long time in the process, especially when it comes to cleaning up after cooking.

Cleaning pots, plates, microwaves, kitchen counters, takes more time and effort. Especially if you make food that contains a lot of oil. It must be hard to clean, but don't let that discourage you from cleaning the kitchen.

Kitchen cleanliness is very important in maintaining home hygiene. If you are too lazy to clean it, it will cause an unpleasant odor and bacteria will easily appear where you store your cooking utensils and immediately the cooking utensils will become unhygienic too.

Here are a few ways to clean your kitchen to get a fresh and hygienic kitchen. This new way of doing things will help you keep your kitchen pretty close to the way you want it.

1. Clean everything as soon as possible

It may seem obvious but it is totally worth it! Always empty the sink of dishwater as soon as you are finished washing up. A bowl full of dirty, greasy water can leave a lingering smell in your kitchen. Finish the sink off by sanitizing with a kitchen cleaner and clean cloth. Clean all spillages too after cooking. If you clean a kitchen spillage up as soon as it happens it will be much easier to clean then a day later.

2. Regularly clean kitchen cloths

To keep your kitchen clean and safe, it is important to regularly clean and change your cleaning clothes. Dirty, damp kitchen cloths make the perfect habitat for bacteria to breed. Make sure you thoroughly wash clothes, sponges and brushes every few days and leave them to dry before using again.

3. Clean as you wait

If you find yourself waiting around in the kitchen – use your time wisely. If you are waiting for the kettle to boil, then why not put the dishes away or unload the dishwasher, you could wipe over the hob or clean the kitchen counters; you will be amazed at what you can achieve in the time it takes for the kettle to boil or chicken to defrost. These few minutes of cleaning will all contribute to keeping the kitchen clean and tidy for longer.

4. Take out the trash as soon as it's full or smelly

Start taking out the trash at the end of the day or when the trash can is visibly full so your kitchen smells good. If there is food waste that can decompose, immediately empty the trash in the kitchen or separate the leftover food so that it can be disposed of immediately.

Don't forget to clean your trash regularly. Take the empty trash can outside and spray it with a disinfectant spray. Then, put on gloves and scrub them inside and out before you rinse them off.

5. Sweep floors daily and mop once a week

Keep dust, crumbs and leftovers out of your kitchen. If you have a messy kitchen at home, you have to sweep it up after eating and cooking. Then, once a week, you can mop the kitchen with hot soapy water or a floor cleaning solution. If it is too dirty after you cooking or eating, you can mop to clean oily floor.
